I turned on of my apple gourds into a bird house. I saw a nest in it before I went on vacation but was not sure what it was. I figured it was a wren until I got back and went to check on it, a bluebird flew out
We have lots of wrens around here and I have some bluebird houses and they take up all of them.
You guys are so talented and creative. That sort of thing just isn't in my gene pool. I could probably build a birdhouse easily enough but I just don't have any skills when it comes to painting and decorating. We have bluebird houses, purple martin gourds (did grow some of those), and a variety of decorative birdhouses that we have picked up here and there. Mostly wrens in the birdhouses. I do have bluebirds in residence and the purple martins don't seem to mind having wrens living next door in one of their gourds. Keep the projects coming. Even if I can't do it myself I sure do enjoy looking at the handiwork of others!
gonepostal, the pic is from last year, I hope every thing looks as good this year, its still to early for most of the plants to start showing
GardenBear, I just got my FIRST FORSYTHIA --- hope to make a fun patio like yours!
