They sure can be handy. I bought a used McCulloch from a shop about 25 years ago and I used it for a few days on a deer camping trip. I couldn't start it the next time I tried to use it and eventually I tore into it and found a shorted coil. But by the time I worked on it, McCulloch was out of business and no parts were available. I have a small Homelite though that works well, so I really don't miss the other.
